The EPPA prohibits most companies from requiring or requesting that employees submit to polygraph tests. Subject to restrictions, the Act does permit polygraph testing of certain employees of private firms who are reasonably suspected of involvement in a workplace incident (theft, embezzlement, etc.) which resulted in specific economic loss or injury to the employer.
